Obviously, these are the reference pictures of myself. I used the first for the outlines of the face. Yes, the nose is cropped; this is because I had no photographer, so I took the pictures using the self-timer. Even if I was a bit out of frame, this was my favourite shot.

The second one was used for coloring and texture references, as the image is much clearer and detailed, and not over-exposed as the first.

The third picture of course was for the hands.
The pictures below were taken last summer (2009). I didn't know I would eventually use them as a reference for a painting, I just thought it was fascinating; it ended up being the starting point for the whole concept of this painting.
